Dear supporter,

As we close out another successful financial year, Travellers Aid is stepping into the warmer months in good shape and in good company. Our 110th year continues to bring growth, partnership and new ways to reach the people who need us.

Milestone celebrations kicked off in August with our annual Trivia Night. It was a joyful evening filled with laughter, competitive spirit and generosity. While many attendees were surprised to learn we were turning 110 years old, there was no disagreement about the ongoing need for our services. Thank you to everyone who made it such a successful event, raising more than $20,000 to keep us going strong.

Nights like this show that our achievements are never a solo effort. It takes partners and donors, including people who choose to leave a bequest after experiencing our services firsthand. This support lets us stay adaptable to the changing needs of the communities we serve. It means we can keep looking for new ways to meet people where they are and support them to participate with dignity and agency.

Examples of our adaptability and impact surface every day in simple moments that make a big difference. This month marks Melbourne Airport Assist’s first birthday. Across the year we’ve assisted more than 45,000 travellers and been described as ‘guardian angels’, ‘a godsend’ and a ‘game changer’. Thank you to everyone who has trusted us and to our wonderful airport team.

We also recently ticked over 6 months of service at Geelong Station. There we’ve helped more than 2,600 passengers move between platforms and access coach and local bus bays, taxi ranks and car park drop-off zones. This partnership with V/Line helps position Geelong as an accessible and inclusive destination of choice. We’re now talking with local attraction and event organisers about delivering services beyond the station precinct.

You can read more about all these achievements and more in this issue. Find out about our involvement in the upcoming Special Olympics and how you can support us by volunteering.

Thank you, as always, for being part of the journey.
