Buggy Training Workshop

The Buggy Training Workshop is available to industry partners ONLY.

Participants in this training workshop will gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to safely drive a non-rail vehicle in the Southern Cross Station precinct.

Participants will also gain an understanding of:

  • Non-Rail vehicle manual
  • Rail Safety Regulations 2006
  • Rail Safety Act 2006
  • Victorian OH&S Legislation
  • OHSAS 18001 OH&S Management.

Workshop methods will include theory, participation, practical and evaluation.

Workshop topics include:

OPERATIONAL AREA – Southern Cross Station

  • Facility (within the building structure)
  • Platforms
  • Basement / service tunnels
  • Coach transit area and specified paths leading to coach transit area and loading bays
  • Pathways put in place for special circumstances.

PROVIDE A SAFE ENVIRONMENT- for patrons and station staff alike

  • Identification of relevant hazards, risks and controls
  • Adherence to and enforcement of, NRVPE Policy
  • Investigation of accidents with appropriate outcomes and improvements documented (Incident reporting).

SAFE OPERATIONS RULES – Non Rail Vehicles, Plant & Equipment (NRVPE)

  • Pre-operating NRVPE checks
  • Traversing ANY concourse or public area
  • Driving tunnels and ramps
  • No go zones
  • Traffic signal operations
  • Platform rules.

Workshop Costs

$363 per person (GST inclusive) payable by EFT or credit card.

  • Online copy of Non Rail Vehicles, Plant & Equipment (NRVPE) manual
  • Online pre-training module
  • Qualified Trainer
  • Certificate of attainment
  • Buggy driver ID card.

    Travellers Aid runs buggy training on an appointment based system. Late cancellations and no-shows are both inconvenient and cost for Travellers Aid.

    If you need to cancel your appointment, Travellers Aid requires at least 24 hours notice. A full refund will be provided with at least 24 hours notice of cancellation.

    If you wish to reschedule your appointment, Travellers Aid requires at least 24 hours notice. Where possible, we will try to reschedule the appointment to the next available timeslot.

    If less than 24 hours notice is given for a cancellation, or the participant is a no-show, there will be no refund. Consideration will be given for unavoidable circumstances.

    If you are running late, please give as much notice as possible. We will attempt to accommodate you however this may not always be possible.

    Organisations that repeatedly miss or reschedule appointments will regretfully be required to prepay all buggy training. In the event of a course requiring rescheduling due to instructor illness or unavailability, the cost of the course will be refunded in full, or alternatively rescheduled at a mutually acceptable date.

    It is a requirement that online buggy training module be completed prior to the practical session and failure to do so will result in cancellation of the training with no refund.
