It’s been a chilly few months, but the arrival of our new Travellers Aid beanies and jumpers were well timed and we have enjoyed being out and about, providing mobility assistance at major trams disruptions and events.
Together with our partners Yarra Trams and the Shrine of Remembrance, Travellers Aid assisted veterans and their families for the ANZAC Day Parade. It was an honour and a privilege to contribute to such an important national occasion.
Bouncing across to the MCG, we assisted the Essendon Football Club as they commemorated 150 years in June. Travellers Aid was happy to provide buggy service for the celebrations that started at Federation Square and assisted iconic Essendon legends and dyed-in-the-wool supporters to the MCG for the game. And what a game it was, played against rival club and first ever opponent in 1872, the Carlton FC. With the Travellers Aid buggies draped in red and black, our volunteers happily transported some legends of the game from Federation Square to the MCG.
It was great to be a part of such a vibrant and historical event – Go Bombers!
The past few months also saw us continue to partner with Yarra Trams as they undertake major tram line upgrades. Our friendly volunteers provided mobility assistance service, ensuring passengers are supported as much as possible throughout the disruptions.
As the weather becomes warmer we are busy preparing for many upcoming events and programs including more Community Education and Scooter Safety sessions and are excited to replace the beanies for sun hats.
