Welcome Back Victoria!

An update from Elias, Traveller Aid CEO

We are proud to say that Travellers Aid – and Victoria – has well and truly bounced back from the closures and lockdowns over the last two years.

Melbourne’s reopening has provided the city with a fresh buzz that is almost palpable in the air – events and tourism are booming, and solutions to accessibility requirements are in high demand. Travellers Aid has the services to support these events as well as our “business as usual” activities – it’s what we do!

Event organisers recognise that there is a large cohort of people who want to participate in their event but need additional assistance to do so. It makes good business sense to provide the support these people need as well as reflecting the inclusive society we hope to be. It’s been a gloriously busy year so far for Travellers Aid, helping our service users get to – and around – the Australian Open, Moomba, the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show (MIFGS), and Anzac Day; navigating around the Yarra Trams disruptions; providing respite for unpaid carers through the Time Out program and more. Additional information about how we have assisted at these events can be found later in this newsletter.

Remember where you can find us:

We provide our services at Seymour, Flinders Street and Southern Cross railway stations for any mobility and assistance needs you have. Come see our friendly staff and volunteers – they are always happy to help.

We hope to see you soon.

Volunteer Week

To help celebrate and commemorate Volunteer Week (16-22 May), we spoke with Travellers Aid volunteer Leonie about her years volunteering at the Seymour railway station.

A busy start to 2022, we have been there at public transport hubs and major events

Events can provide enjoyable moments and life-long memories, and our service users are in agreement.

Time Out Program

Our Time Out program seeks to provide respite for unpaid carers who look after family members including adult children, partners and parents.

Site Services and Hours

Our sites at Flinders Street, Southern Cross and Seymour are operating as usual and ready to assist you.
