Collage of passengers and Travellers Aid staff at various transport disruptions

We work with transport providers to offer support and assistance to passengers during public transport disruptions.

With an increase in upgrades and service works throughout the public transport system, providers are keen to minimise the disruption for passengers. As a registered social enterprise, our Disruption Assistance program is a great solution for transport provider services. Versatile and fit for purpose, we enable passengers to continue their journeys throughout disruptions by offering extra support.

Having to travel via metro to Sunbury, changing platforms and travelling on to Bendigo with 2 suitcases, was filling me with dread. Thanks to a wonderful young lady helping me, it helped so much.

Depending on the location and the specific needs of the transport disruption, we keep travellers moving with:

  • Personal guidance
  • Buggy transportation
  • Triobike transportation
  • Motorised and manual wheelchair escorts.

We have recently been busy in Melbourne CBD, Glen Huntly, Sunbury and Caroline Springs. Our staff braved some early mornings, late nights, and chilly, wet weather to make the journey easier for over 1,600 passengers. We are fortunate to have a wonderful team who have shown flexibility and positivity, delivering on our purpose; to enable people to connect, engage and participate. A comment that staff and volunteers hear often is one from passenger Jenny, she is 97 years old and said she didn’t know what she would have done without us there.

Please pass on our thanks to the full Travellers Aid team involved in supporting and assisting V/Line customers at Sunbury station over the past two weeks. Staff and customer feedback has been very positive and greatly appreciated. – V/Line
