As Spring brings fresh opportunities for growth and renewal, I’m delighted to share some exciting developments that reflect our ongoing commitment to creating a more accessible and inclusive community.
Our biggest news is that Travellers Aid has been awarded the contract to deliver access and inclusion services at Melbourne Airport, following our successful pilot program. This achievement, secured through a competitive tender process, represents a significant milestone in our journey. The Melbourne Airport Assist service operates daily from 6am to 10pm, ensuring travellers with disability, older people and anyone needing extra support can navigate their arrival to and departure from the airport with confidence and dignity.
I’m also pleased to announce our new partnership with Accessible Accommodation. Together, we’re raising the awareness of accommodation providers so that older people and those with disability can enjoy better travel experiences. You can discover Accessible Accommodation, along with other trusted service providers, in our brand-new accessible services online directory; a resource designed to connect you with businesses that truly understand access and inclusion.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us at our annual Trivia Night. Your enthusiasm and generosity made it our most successful fundraiser yet, raising more than $41,800 – nearly $10,000 more than last year. Congratulations to our Quiz Champions, the Southern Cross Station Superstars, and to all 21 teams who made it such a fun and memorable evening.
As we launch our new Strategic Action Plan 2026–29, I’m energised by how far we’ve come and the incredible momentum we’re building. The dedication and passion of our team and partnerships continues to drive us forward, and I’m genuinely excited about what we can achieve together in the years ahead. Our vision remains clear: a society where people with access challenges are treated with dignity and respect. One where everyone can lead full and rich lives with confidence.
