Dear supporter,
The power of collaboration is the beating heart of our work to achieve access and inclusion for all. With the support of transport providers, event organisers, community organisations, volunteers and donors we continue to expand our reach so that everyone, regardless of their mobility needs, can travel safely and confidently.
An example of this collaborative spirit is our work with Melbourne Airport, access consultants Get Skilled Access and MGAC – Jensen Hughes on the new Melbourne Airport Assist pilot program. Launched on 9 September, this four-month initiative will see us providing buggy services, wheelchair assistance and dedicated support at Melbourne Airport.
The program aims to develop a service that complements what the airlines offer. Our service will target known accessibility challenges such as navigating:
- to and from car parks
- public drop-off and pick-up zones
- Uber, taxi and bus terminals
- selected airline check-ins
- selected baggage carousels.
Following the pilot, a program assessment will inform a service plan that can evolve with Melbourne Airport’s renewal and development in the coming decade. We are thrilled to be working alongside the airport to enhance accessibility and create a more inclusive experience for all travellers.
In addition to our service developments, we’ve also had some changes to our board and management team. I’m pleased to introduce two new leaders, with Melita Ryan stepping into the role of board chair and Darren O’Beirne replacing Elaine Shallue as our new finance and corporate service manager.
Melita takes over from Peter Gluskie who stepped down from the role in April but continues to contribute as a valued board member.
I take this opportunity to thank Peter and Elaine for their hard work, dedication and leadership in driving our mission. I know Melita and Darren will fill these roles with the expertise and passion to build on solid and strategic foundations.
To all our collaborators; thank you for being part of our journey. Together, we’re cultivating a more accessible and inclusive Victoria for all.
