With more than half of our workforce comprised of dedicated volunteers, we’ve had a busy 12 months recruiting and onboarding many new volunteers to work alongside our dedicated staff.

With more event organisers and businesses becoming aware of the need to provide accessible and inclusive environments, reduced V/Line fares in regional Victoria and tourism and travel back on track post COVID-19, our team has grown.

We’ve had a busy 12 months not only recruiting and onboarding new staff and volunteers but also implementing a new people management system to make the recruitment experience easier for prospective applicants. Travellers through our service hubs at the four railway stations are back to levels that we have not seen since 2019. More people are seeking out Travellers Aid thanks to our wonderful service users spreading the word to family and friends, as well as the exposure we have received from several corporate supporters and our partners in the public transport sector.

With many of our services free or low cost, we are often described as a ‘hidden gem’ by many delighted recipients but we’d like to support even more people as they travel to access their communities!

If you would like to join our team, making a difference to people with disabilities or anyone facing barriers as they travel, we would love to hear from you.

Opportunities exist in Melbourne, the Latrobe Valley, Ballarat and Seymour. If you would like to find out more about our upcoming volunteer opportunities, please email us at volunteers@travellersaid.org.au or apply here.

We are currently seeking insights and feedback from our Travellers Aid workforce. If you have received this survey, we encourage you to take a few moments to complete it. The survey will close on 8 March 2024.
