Partners for Change | accessible health and emergency support for Victorians in need
Travellers Aid can offer extra health and emergency supports, including travel, at Melbourne’s Southern Cross Station thanks to the Victorian Government’s Partners for Change program.
Through the program, Travellers Aid has received additional funding to engage with and support people from low socio-economic backgrounds, or those sleeping rough.
Victoria’s Department of Health selected Travellers Aid to implement this important program because of our strong history of respectful and effective support for this group of people.
The Partners for Change initiative is aimed at people already using Travellers Aid’s shower facilities at Southern Cross Station, as well as others in need who can benefit from the services offered.
The program delivers additional health initiatives, including information on COVIDSafe behaviours, how to do a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), vaccination and preventative care needs.
The Partners for Change funding provides:
- Free showers,
- Top ups to the service user’s Myki card with the daily concession charge,
- A $15 food voucher to each service user, and
- Support from Western Public Health’s Unit for Homeless Support and Pathways and Covid19 pop-up vaccination clinics where appropriate.
The initiative also ensures Travellers Aid staff can extend its support of this community by providing Rapid Antigen Tests and COVIDSafe information, including directing people to other beneficial services.
The program is funded through to 30 June, 2022.
